Re: Costiahi Alex my experiences with costia is that its a cold water virus and it normally attacks at the transition between Winter and Spring ....what ive been led to believe about trying to slow it down as such is the use of pond salt throughout the winter should do the trick plus many more nescessaties.... therefore its vital (for me to use salt)...plus if we do get costia its pretty simple to eradicate formali/malachite will do the trick
Re: Costiawhat kind of percentages are we talking about and where do people get them for all newbees
dont let your mother inlaw feed your koi
Re: Costiahi lionkoi your quite right sorry about that ,basically what salt does is ,if put in winter or late autum say ...it helps the koi to grow a thicker mucus coat therefore protecting it from parasitical attack while its imune system is low therefore its imperative to have this for the forth coming spring or the dredded period known as arenomas alley ,in my view it essential in all koi ponds throughout winter and relatively cheep aswell ,use at a pound per hundred gallons and remember to take all pond plants out or it will kill them ....................................possible problems can arrise if we leave the salt in or use it all year round because the parasites will become stronger and become a super strain (then youve got problems ) so my rule of thumb is add late oct .carry on doing filter changes and water changes and by the time spring comes weve got healthy clean unstressed fish with a strong mucus membrane ,pond salt can be bought quite easilly at many koi cantre ,garden centre ,aquatic centres ,hope this is of some help ,thanks guys
Re: CostiaGrand stuff stew
