GENERAL DISSCUSION ON ALL KOI RELATED SUBJECTS
by ARBROATHSMOKIE4 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 12:41 pm
Hi all, Yesterday and again to day I asked for help from another forum, this was to be by way of a few posts or answers, I am afraid I have to report to you that my request fell on deaf ears and my posts were removed with no explanation whatsoever, so much for help your fellow koi keeper, I am at a complete loss as to why Richdon koi would do this but they did, , in all my years as a self employed man I never ever turned down any request for help or advice, my how times have changed and not for the better it seems!! Regards, Andy.

Just read your post on Richdon and decided to have a look at your forum and wish you luck. The more forums re koi the better, people always need somewhere for information, and to bounce ideas off each other. Will pop in on regular basis to read all your news. Good Luck

Hi Andy, I didnt get a chance to read your post on the Richdon forum, however I couldnt agree more that anything that promotes koi keeping regardless of where it is has to be a good thing. Unfortunatly in Scotland we have a inherent problem in that our population and therefor any prospective club members are spread far and wide, and unlike south of the border we dont seem to have enough people keeping koi so that makes reigonal clubs inviable, therefore the only place prospective keepers and keepers alike can come for advice and posably discover one another is through a forum such as this. I had to close down my pond two years ago due to personal reasons and as such have not be active on forums, however if it is help and support regarding posts and past experiances then you have my support after all you sometimes need all the help you can get in this hoby.
Kind regards, Garry.

Hi Garry, welcome on board man, any thing you care to post would be great and a big help to all I am sure, I have been keeping koi for 10 years but never joined the Scottish club until 2 years ago, yes you are right we are spread far and wide and this is why we need to get this forum running better than it was, so Eck,Kevin and myself have set about getting things moving in the hope more of our Scottish members will join in. The post I placed on Richdon koi was nothing more than a request for help and support from some of the form members there, but it seems Rich took exception to this and removed my post which I promptly replaced with another which further annoyed him, I do not believe that I have done anything wrong and told him so, our hobby needs all the help it can get and I will continue to promote the koi hobby at every opportunity I can get, the elitist attitude of some people is something I personally have no time for, no person or business is bigger than the hobby in my opinion. Regards, Andy.

Hi Andy, Thanks for the welcome, I had been keeping koi for about 7 years , and can remember when I started that nothing can prepair you for the learning curve you are about to experiance, if it hadent been for the koihelp forum I would have been lost, as at the time I didnt know anyone that was into the hoby in Scotland. I hope to return to the hoby later this year or at least thats the plan. Anyway keep up the good work and I will try my best to post when I can . Cheers, Garry.

Hi All, After contact between myself and Darren ( Maxamber) one of the Richdon forum moderators I have accepted that in my enthusiasm to support the Scottish forum I may have broken there forum rules, I meant no offence to Richard and Donna and did not intentionally break there rules, I have now put this matter behind me and hope to continue to post and debate on the Richdon forum something I have enjoyed for the last 4 years.
Andy.

Hi Andy and all Scottish koi keepers, Guess you got the word out despite it being repeatedly pulled from you know where! Been on the wrong end of too many posts being pulled so don't post on there much these days. So far my posts have been pulled for answering a question about the cost of block built filters, another for asking what was causing marks on the scales of 1 of his koi he had posted, (genuine question it had loads of white marks showing), final straw was when I posted saying there was no advert or anything regarding the winter show in January's Koi mag, seems even pointing that out causes problems. So good luck with this if we can discuss anything koi related without getting posts pulled then I will return and contribute! Regards Jane

Jane, Welcome to our forum, yes you are right I got the message out there because I kept repeating the post, the rules of that forum are somewhat bizarre, you would think a dealer would be happy that we are promoting another forum to discuss koi there being very little koi dealers up here, but that's how it is with him i'm afraid,I have known this guy for the 10 years of koi keeping so far and he has not changed one bit! Enjoy this forum, Andy.
