Re: heat pump adviceHi,
Most people down south are using Duratech heat pumps, I have an Daikin Altherma on both house and pond, very good machines, you would probably need 6 or 7 kw for your pond this would give you a little bit of cover if things get really cold, I would strongly advise some sort of back up heating just to cover you if the temps get really low and the heat pump shuts down due to very cold weather ( -12/15c) I have had mine for 4 years now and last years winter temps were the only time I have had to use some back up heat, they cope well otherwise! Dave Collins also a form member here has some very good stats and keeps recordings of energy used ect.might be worth having a word with Dave. Andy.
Re: heat pump adviceThanks guys .I see the duratech 7kw on flee bay for 995.would that be about the right price????
Re: heat pump adviceHi, yip not to bad for price, should be plug and play as well, is that new ? good price if it is.
Andy.
Re: heat pump adviceHi Guys
Don't buy the one on ebay it's no good for Koi ponds, it shuts down at -5°C I seem to remember. Contact the seller, I and many others have bought from him, but you need the Duratech Plus 7kw. This is a better machine, and costs a bit more, and will operate down to -10°C and is still better than pure electric. We've had temperatures this week down to -12°C and it's performed well and not cut out, holding my covered pond at +10°C easily. Dave
