Hey Kevin,
Pond temp at 12c since start of December, start to raise temp at the end of this month although I dont know what temp I will need for the East Midlands winter show, last year I think it was around 15c so that is where I will aim for by the end of this month,
feeding wheatgerm once a day, the wife twice a day!!
Cheers,
Andy.

Hi Guys,

Well seeing as I dont have a pond I can only remark on what my old regime was, so hypotheticaly at this time of year I would be sitting at 12o and feeding once a day with wheatgerm, although rather than thinking about raising the temps, I would be reducing the temp down to the ambiant temps letting the pond and the koi over winter untill the end of Febuary at whic point I would start to raise the temps , there was two reasons for this, the first was cost, January and Febuary are historicaly our coldest months so it made sence to have the heater working as little as posable, and the second reason was down to simpaly giving the fish a winter as that is what the koi would be use to in a natural situation.
I know that these days most of the japanese koi imported into the country have never experianced temps bellow 15o, hence the reason we now see jumbo tosai , and to be honest I simply could'nt afford to do it any other way, but I can say hand on heart I didnt have any major problems.

Cheers,
Garry.
