i will get this started so no spitting of dummies .
first the vats should be allocated to new members then if there is vats left over then existing members should apply and if there is not enough vats to go round the older members then i think there should be some form of balit to se who gets them or any suggestions

I agree with the principal of encouraging new members to show fish .

There is not many beginners who have large fish ( ie Mature & adults classes ) , remember this is the only time that we can showcase the club to the general public and possible future members.

I think that it would be fairer to allocate vats on a first come bases with the senior members of the club being allocated only one vat instead of the two or three as in the past .

If after the closing date there is vats left these should be allocated the senior members of club .

For all new members wishing to show, there is a trophy for best newcomer

Hi Kevin
I agree clubs must encourage new show exhibitors, but you cannot give them preference over your past show competitors, who have raised there standards and the standard of your show.

HI ALLAN
your point is good however if there are say 12 vats and 6 new members want to show so they can gain experience and also see if there koi are good enough and 12 older members want to show and some want 2 vats due to the point system what do you do then as if some one has grand champion with a certain koi what's the point in showing the same koi 2 years on the trot why not let some one else show something newer to see how there koi progress .i feel the same way as some one going out 2 weeks before the show and buying a koi just to win a award whats the point as a lot of members feel part of koi keeping is buying a koi unfinished and seeing how in matures over time .
the point about grand champion does not mean if i won baby champion one year then i should not show it the following as i would like to see if that koi has got better in say young adult catagoire how ever let a newer member try and win something

Hi Kevin

on the grand champion point, it is rare for fish to win two years in a row. every one trys to win this major award and if some one does it two or three years in a row then that fish is off the standard required , rarely will a newcommer have fish of the size and standard to displace it.
Newcommers learn more from showing against quality fish than showing against average pond fish, this may sound harsh but is a fact.
